The Block Builder Fellowship was developed to give rising AI talent the opportunity to work inside Block’s design and engineering teams to tackle real challenges in the financial system. They were tasked with building products, prototypes, and AI tools across Square, Cash App, Afterpay, Tidal, Proto, and Bitkey, as well as new initiatives and internal projects.
As part of the onboarding package shared with the incoming builders, myself and Alex Naghavi designed a multi-page zine that was shared with the first cohort during their onboarding week in New York. We were constrained to working within Block’s neutral color palette, and leveraged AI generated photography, illustration and texture to build out the visual system.
Alongside the zine, I designed and prototyped a landing page for the fellowship, giving Builders a place to learn about the program and submit their application. I built the prototype in the Cursor (an AI powered code editor), then handed it off to our engineering partners for production.
