Context
Block launched the Builder Fellowship to bring emerging AI talent into its design and engineering teams to work on real challenges across Square, Cash App, Afterpay, TIDAL, Proto, and Bitkey. As part of the program launch, the team needed an onboarding experience that could introduce participants to Block’s culture, values, and builder-first mindset in a way that felt thoughtful, inspiring, and distinctly Block.

Solution
In collaboration with Alex Naghavi, we designed a multi-page onboarding zine that was shared with the first fellowship cohort during their onboarding week in New York.

Working within Block’s neutral color palette, we developed a visual system using AI-generated photography, illustration, and texture to create something that felt experimental, optimistic, and aligned with the future-facing nature of the program.

My Role
I partnered with Alex Naghavi to help shape the visual direction for the fellowship onboarding experience, designing the zine and developing the supporting visual system across typography, imagery, illustration, and layout.

Design and AD: Angie Garland, Alex Naghavi

Alongside the zine, I designed and prototyped a landing page for the fellowship, giving Builders a place to learn about the program and submit their application. I built the prototype in the Cursor (an AI powered code editor), then handed it off to our engineering partners for production.
